I think it's not an unreasonable impulse to want those things (hell, I want those things), but up to what point? When you begin to chase cash and convenience at the exclusion or detriment of others (creativity? compassion? curiosity?) is when - imo - the problems begin.
Great perspective and well put: intellectual laziness. We've been chasing that for many decades in the name of 'convenience'. And cash, of course.
